Everkin Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
The Short Version
Everkin is a gentle memory aid. It recognizes the people you have added, and no one else, entirely on your phone. There is no account, no ads, and no cross-app tracking. Your photos and the face data computed from them never leave your device. The app connects to the internet in only two cases: the one-time App Store purchase that unlocks the full app, and feedback a caregiver chooses to write and send us. It never sends a photo, a face, or anything it recognizes. Everkin cannot identify a stranger, by design.
No account
You don't sign in. We never ask for your name or phone number, and there is no login or personal profile. Recognition, and everything Everkin does with the people you add, happens entirely on your device with no connection required. The only exceptions are the one-time unlock purchase and the optional feedback form, both described below.
Your faces stay on your phone
When a caregiver adds someone, Everkin keeps that person's photo and computes a mathematical "face signature" from it. Both are stored only on your device, protected by the system's file encryption, and are excluded from your iCloud and iTunes device backups so they don't leave the phone even that way. Recognition — pointing the camera at a face and matching it — also happens entirely on the device, in real time. None of it is ever uploaded or shared.
Only the people you add
Everkin can only ever recognize people a caregiver has explicitly added. It builds no database of strangers, does not scrape any photos, and is incapable of identifying someone you have not saved. Anyone it doesn't know simply reads as "unknown."
The camera
Everkin uses the camera to recognize the people you've added. Camera frames are analyzed on the device as they arrive and are not recorded or stored — the only image Everkin keeps is a face photo you deliberately save when adding a person.
The caregiver lock
The caregiver area is protected by a PIN you set, stored in the device's secure Keychain (device-only, never synced). You can also unlock with Face ID or Touch ID; that check is performed by Apple's system, and the app never sees your biometric data.
Unlocking the full app
Everkin is free for a few people. Unlocking the rest is a one-time purchase made through Apple's App Store. To complete that purchase and keep it unlocked across your devices, we use RevenueCat, a purchase service that records the transaction and an anonymous identifier for your app install. This lets the unlock work and lets us see whether purchases succeed. It is never linked to your name and is never used to track you across other apps or sites. No photo, face, name, or anything Everkin recognizes is ever part of a purchase.
The other thing that can leave: feedback
The caregiver Settings include an optional Send feedback form. If a caregiver writes a message there and taps Send, that message is sent to us so we can read it and improve the app. Along with the message we receive basic technical context — the app version, the device model, the iOS version, and the language setting — and an email address only if the caregiver chooses to add one (it's optional). We never receive any photo, face signature, name, relationship, note, or anything Everkin recognizes. Nothing is sent unless a caregiver deliberately taps Send. Our feedback service is provided by Supabase, which stores the message on our behalf; to have feedback you've sent removed, email us and we'll delete it.
Information the app handles — all on your device
- Photos and face signatures of the people you add — stored on your device, encrypted, kept off backups, never transmitted.
- Names, relationships, and notes you write for those people — stored on your device.
- Your caregiver PIN — stored in the device Keychain.
What Everkin does not do
- No cloud storage of your photos, face data, or the people you add. Those never leave the device.
- No advertising.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no tracking of anything Everkin recognizes. The only usage data we ever receive is basic purchase analytics from our payment provider, described below.
- No selling or sharing of your data.
- No recognizing anyone you did not add. It cannot identify strangers.
Data collection
Everkin does no advertising and no cross-app tracking. Information is collected in only two cases. First, purchases: when you unlock the app, our payment service receives the purchase and an anonymous install identifier, so the unlock works and so we can see whether purchases succeed. Second, optional feedback: if a caregiver uses the Send feedback form, the message, basic device context, and an optional email address are sent to us. On the App Store this is reflected as a few data types, none linked to your identity and none used for tracking: Purchases, Identifiers, and Diagnostics from the purchase service, and, for feedback, an optional email address and the message content. The companies involved are Apple, which distributes the app and processes payment and provides the on-device camera and Face ID frameworks; RevenueCat, which manages the purchase; and Supabase, which stores the feedback you choose to send. Your photos and face data are never part of any of this and never leave your device.
Your choices & deleting your data
- Remove any person at any time in the caregiver area — that erases their photo and face data from your device.
- Turn off camera access for Everkin anytime in your device Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device.
- If you have sent us feedback and want it removed, email us and we'll delete it.
Not a medical device
Everkin is an assistive memory aid designed to support recognition and connection. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent dementia or any other medical condition, and it is not a substitute for medical care.
Children
Everkin is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — including children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
