Pitchbird Privacy Policy

Overview

Pitchbird is a singing app built to respect your privacy. Your voice is processed on your iPhone and never recorded, and you can sing without an account. A few things are shared with us only when you choose them: an account (needed to buy Pro or Coach Pip), feedback you send, and, if you subscribe to Coach Pip, statistics from the session Pip reviews. Each is described below.

Your voice and the microphone

Pitchbird uses your microphone to detect your pitch in real time while you sing. Audio is processed live on your device and is NEVER recorded, saved, or transmitted. Only the resulting note and pitch values are used, to run the tuner, score your practice, and let Coach Pip hear how you did. Your audio never leaves your phone.

What stays on your device

Without an account, your practice data (sessions, scores, XP, streaks, achievements, your vocal range, lesson progress, and settings such as your coach voice and reminder time) is created and stored only on your iPhone. Coach Pip lessons are scored on your iPhone too.

Your account

An account is needed only to buy Pro or Coach Pip, so your purchase follows you to every device. When you create one we store your email address and a display name to sign you in. While you are signed in, your practice sessions, progress, achievements, and daily challenges are also saved to our server so they follow you as well. We never use your email for marketing. You can delete your account and all of its data at any time in Settings, Delete Account.

Coach Pip

Coach Pip is an optional paid subscription. After a practice session, Pitchbird sends statistics from that session to our server, which uses AI (Anthropic’s Claude) to write your feedback. Those statistics describe the session only: your accuracy, how far sharp or flat you sang in cents, the exercise type, and your recent trend. They never include audio, recordings, your name, or your email. The request is linked to your account so we can confirm your subscription. Anthropic processes the statistics only to write your feedback and does not use them to train its models. Without a Coach Pip subscription, feedback is written on your iPhone and nothing is sent.

Reminders

If you turn on Pip’s daily reminder, it is scheduled on your iPhone as a local notification. We do not use push notifications, and nothing about your reminders is sent to us.

Feedback you send

If you use Send Feedback in Settings, the message you write is sent to us, along with basic technical details that help us act on it: the app version and build, your iOS version, your device model (for example “iPhone16,2”), and your language setting. Adding your email address is optional and clearly marked; we use it only to reply to you. We never send your practice data or recordings with feedback. If you leave the email field blank, your feedback is anonymous. Feedback is stored in a private database that only we can read; it is not sold, shared, or used for advertising. Email pitchbird@blackbeaconstudios.net if you would like a piece of feedback deleted.

Purchases

Pro and Coach Pip are bought through Apple under the App Store’s terms; we never receive your name or payment details. We use RevenueCat to check which purchases belong to your account. RevenueCat receives an app user ID and your App Store purchase records, and nothing about your singing.

No tracking

Pitchbird contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or trackers. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your data with data brokers.

Data and deletion

Data on your device is removed when you delete the app. To delete your account and everything saved with it on our server, use Settings, Delete Account. To have feedback you sent us removed, email pitchbird@blackbeaconstudios.net.

Children's privacy

Pitchbird is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
