Vōch Privacy Policy

Vōch ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Vōch you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and the username and display name you choose. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive only the email and name permitted by those providers.

Content you create. Posts, picks, reviews, club messages, comments, and any other content you submit to Vōch is stored on our servers so it can be shown to you and, where applicable, to people you follow or club members.

Activity data. We record actions like follows, likes, watchlist additions, and watch-party RSVPs in order to power your feed and notifications.

Device & usage data. We automatically collect information about the device type, operating system, and app version you use, as well as general usage patterns (screens visited, features used) to help us improve the product. We do not sell this data.

Cookies & local storage. We use browser storage to keep you logged in and to remember lightweight preferences (e.g. streaming services you've selected). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Feedback you send. If you use Settings → Send Feedback in the app, the message you write is sent to us, along with basic technical details that help us act on it: the app version and build, your iOS version, your device model (for example “iPhone16,2”), and your language setting. The email field on that screen is optional and clearly marked — if you fill it in we use it only to reply to you, and for nothing else; if you leave it blank your feedback is anonymous. We never attach your posts, picks, or activity to it. Feedback is stored in a private database that only we can read; it is not sold, shared, or used for advertising. Email support@voch.app if you would like a piece of feedback deleted.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, operate, and improve the Vōch service.
• Personalise your feed and recommendations based on who you follow and what you've watched.
• Send transactional notifications (likes, comments, new follows) according to your in-app preferences.
• Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and security incidents.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.

3. Sharing Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers. We use Supabase (database & auth) and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data-processing agreements.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Vōch, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers. If Vōch is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is subject to a materially different privacy policy.

4. Public vs. Private Content

Your profile, posts, picks, and top lists are public by default and visible to anyone who visits Vōch. Direct picks sent to a specific friend are visible only to you and that recipient. Club content is visible to all members of that club.

If you delete a post or comment, it is removed from public view immediately, though cached copies may persist briefly in infrastructure systems.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or safety reasons.

6. Your Choices & Rights

• Access & correction. You can view and edit your profile information at any time in Settings.
• Notifications. You can turn individual notification categories on or off in Settings → Notifications.
• Account deletion. Email us at privacy@voch.app to request deletion of your account and associated data.
• GDPR / CCPA. If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or California, you may have additional rights including the right to data portability and the right to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Children's Privacy

Vōch is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under these ages. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level security in our database, and hashed passwords to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Vōch after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
